CEA attorneys admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court

CEA Legal Counsel Melanie Kolek and Adrienne DeLucca were sworn in as officers of the United States Supreme Court on Monday, June 17, 2013. This allows both attorneys to argue before the Court in the event that one of the several federal cases they are presently handling, or may handle in the future, is advanced to that level. Both Attorney Kolek and Attorney DeLucca were admitted to the Court on motion made by Jason Walta, general counsel for the NEA. All of the Justices of the Court were present, and Chief Justice Roberts granted the motion made by Attorney Walta. It was a historic time to be present in the Court, given the decisions that came from the Court supporting marriage equality just over a week after the attorneys were sworn in.
