Accolades for the CEA Advisor

CEA Advisor named ‘Best Newspaper’

The CEA Advisor received a Gold Mercury Award for the best print newsletter in the state at the 2013 Public Relations Society of America Mercury Awards ceremony. CEA Advisor Managing Editor Nancy Andrews and Graphic Designer Sandra Cassineri accepted the award from WTIC’s Joe D’Ambrosio, who emceed the event on June 13 at the Pond House Grille in Glastonbury.

Judges called the Advisor an “excellent newsletter” with “well-written, clear content that illustrates your point of view.” The judges added, “It is clear exactly where CEA stands on important education issues. It is clear that the CEA Advisor has clout.”

The Mercury Awards competition, now in its 18th year, recognizes outstanding work of public relations, communications, and marketing professionals in Connecticut, Western Massachusetts, Westchester County, and the Lower Hudson Valley region of New York.

Awards at State Education Editors Conference

The CEA Advisor also won top awards at the 2013 State Education Editors Conference (SEE) held in Atlanta June 19-23. The CEA Advisor received the best newspaper award and also won first place in the Best News Story competition, with the story “Connecticut teachers: Helping and healing in a time of crisis,” which appeared in the February/March edition. BlogCEA.org was also recognized for excellence, receiving a prestigious award of distinction.

CEA Advisor  recognized at NEA RA

The CEA Advisor was also recognized for reporting retiree news at the NEA RA in Atlanta. The Advisor was given a first-place NEA Retired Spotlight Award for Best Retiree News in a State Publication
